Salary: Dependent on experience
Contract: Term time only – 38 weeks per year + 2 inset days
Location: Barking and Dagenham

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our inclusive and forward-thinking school in Barking and Dagenham. This is an exciting opportunity to support students in achieving their full potential in a dynamic and diverse learning environment.

Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years' experience as an HLTA or in a similar role within a school setting.

The successful candidate will work closely with the SENDCO, Inclusion team, and teaching staff to deliver tailored learning support to individuals, small groups, and occasionally full classes, within an agreed framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver programmes of learning for individuals, groups, or whole classes, adapting activities as needed
  • Assess, record, and report on student progress and development
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional wellbeing, reporting any concerns appropriately
  • Attend and contribute to EHCP reviews and meetings with parents/carers
  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals as required
  • Use specialist skills and knowledge to support learning across the curriculum

HLTAs will be expected to specialise in at least one of the following areas:

  • Supporting pupils with SEND (learning, behavioural, sensory, social, or physical needs)
  • Supporting pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL)
  • Supporting high-achieving or gifted pupils
  • Providing subject-specific support (, literacy, numeracy, ICT)
