The Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
We are currently looking for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant for our 'Outstanding' rated Aurora Hanley School, to start in September 5.
The school supports young people aged 6 - with ASC, communication and sensory needs. We offer life skills and a wide range of GCSE/BTEC accreditations alongside a functional skills/entry level pathway. Behaviours across the school are excellent.
We are looking to appoint someone to support high standards of learning and achievement for all students.
The Role:
As a HLTA, your role will be to establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils, providing tailored educational and creative support to engage reluctant or anxious learners. You will lead by example and have firm knowledge of ASC practice to support learning and achievement.
Within the context of the School’s aims and policies, you’ll be expected to know and understand the Class Teacher’s curriculum planning and to plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individual, small groups and/or classes modifying in the event of staff absence and adapt activities as necessary within agreed systems of supervision.
Naturally, you will take responsibility for implementing school policies and practices, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity. Additionally, you will also be expected to carefully monitor the health, well-being and personal care of our pupils; informing Pastoral/Clinical/ SEND support teams and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.
