An independent specialist secondary school for boys aged 1117 is looking to welcome two experienced and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to their team.

Pupils at the school come from a variety of backgrounds, with all students having Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many also present with additional SEND diagnoses such as Autism, ADHD, or communication difficultiesand many have experienced significant trauma and adverse childhood experiences.

The school offers a trauma-informed and attachment-aware approach to education, ensuring that all staff receive regular therapeutic training and the support needed to thrive in a rewarding, yet often challenging, environment.

What Youll Be Doing:

As a HLTA, no two days will ever look the same. Youll play a key role in helping children learn, regulate, and succeedboth academically and emotionally. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, caring environment and can wear many hats!


You might be:

  • Supporting teachers in the classroom

  • Working 1:1 with students or delivering small group interventions

  • Managing classroom resources and preparing engaging activities

  • Supporting children during lunch or social times

  • Managing and de-escalating heightened behaviours

  • Going on off-site trips and visits

  • Getting involved in therapy sessions or reflective work

  • Creating eye-catching displays and celebrating student successes

  • Playing games, doing experiments, or simply listening when its needed most


Youll be part of a team thats passionate about giving students the best possible chance at success, both inside and outside the classroom. Your ideas, interests, and input will help shape the schools curriculum and extra-curricular offer.

What Were Looking For:
  • Someone with experience working with children with SEMH/SEND

  • A calm, flexible, and resilient personality

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • A passion for helping children feel safe, understood, and inspired

  • HLTA qualification is desirable, but strong TAs looking to step up are welcome to apply
