Overview

Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Borough of Southwark - Sept 2025 start - 1 year contract - Full time - Hospital/SEMH school - Secondary Aged children - £95-£130 Per day (Salary dependant on experience)

Role and Responsibilities

Qualiteach are seeking a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible for a minimum of 1 year. The Hospital school are interested in meeting university graduates to work as higher-level teaching assistants within their Hospital and Home Tuition Service, particularly within their warm and welcoming CAMHS school. Their HLTA's are referred to as Education care Co-ordinators (ECC) as they not only support in the classroom but are also the lead in providing transition support for our young people as they move back into their schools. It is preferable (though not essential) that the candidate understand child developmental psychology and mental health.

Hospital School/SEMH - Higher Level Teaching Assistant. Students in this school are usually secondary age and have significant mental health needs which have led to hospitalisation. Students stay within the school from 2 weeks - 6 months and are supported by a multi-disciplinary medical team and an experienced group of teaching staff. Nurses and teachers work alongside each other in the classrooms where we aim to ensure that students return to their school having addressed gaps in their learning and ready for the next steps in their respective schools. The school normally recruit graduates, as a few their students may be transitioning to Russell group universities. Candidates also need to be engaging and friendly with plenty of initiative.
