Scale 6 available if the candidate holds the HLTA qualification or equivalent.

Hours: 35½ hours per week x 39 weeks per year

Ideal hours: Monday (8:30am-4:30pm), Tuesday–Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm (with ½ hour for lunch each day)

Hazelwood Schools are seeking to recruit an optimistic, enthusiastic and highly skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our successful, vibrant, diverse school. You will need to be a problem solver who is able to work creatively in a variety of ways to help support children’s progress. The role is a flexible one, with no two days the same, which may see you supporting children with additional and high needs, working as whole class support or covering classes across the whole school.

The school is willing to support exceptional candidates through the HLTA qualification within the first year of appointment with a review of salary once the qualification is obtained.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be an excellent, imaginative part of the teaching team with the ability to ensure all children make impressive progress;
  • Be able to contribute to teachers’ planning and preparation of lessons at various stages of the planning cycle including resources;
  • Relish providing cover for whole classes when a teacher is unavailable;
  • Have a passion for learning and be happy to work in the ever-evolving primary environment;
  • Have good knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum and SEND;
  • Have demonstrated that they can develop and enhance learning opportunities and experience for children; supporting their academic, social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development;
  • Have very good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work positively and flexibly in our busy team;
  • Have good knowledge of the needs of all children and how to support them;
  • Have a commitment to safeguarding children;
  • Be pre-emptive and pro-active, as well as being able to show flexibility and deal with change at short notice;
  • Be able to support and promote our vision and values.
