Do you hold a qualification as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or equivalent?

About the role

TeacherActive are looking for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Higher Level Teaching Assistant / SEND HLTA to start immediately working in one of our longest standing relationship schools to support children with a multitude of additional needs, including autism, Asperger s, Moderate Learning Difficulties, challenging behaviour and trauma from Adverse Childhood Experiences. All children attending the school have an Educational Health Care Plan / EHCP and require a little additional support, both academically and emotionally. This is a highly rewarding role, suited to someone who has experience with any or all the above conditions who is looking to enrich the lives of children who are both minimally and profoundly affected by their disabilities.

You will be working in a busy yet welcoming setting tailored for the needs of the students and will receive the full support of a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants and teaching staff who are unified in their focus to provide the best educational experience for each individual child. You will work under a newly appointed Senior Leadership Team who are passionate about the improvement of the school, which is located in the city centre of Exeter with easy access via public transport.

Responsibilities
  • Provide academic and emotional support to children with SEND as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Support children with a wide range of needs including autism, Asperger’s, MLD, challenging behaviour and trauma.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and SLT to implement individual education plans and EHCPs.
  • Foster engaging and meaningful relationships to support learning and well-being.
Qualifications
  • 6 months experience supporting children with additional needs.
  • A level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • An engaging and proactive personality with the ability to forge meaningful relationships.
  • A passion for alternative education and the support it provides students.

Positions are initially offered on a temporary basis, which will extend to permanent or long-term opportunities for the right candidate.

You will be paid on a PAYE basis meaning you need not worry about administration fees and charges coming out of your salary, and pay is offered on a weekly basis with options for pension schemes and holiday allowances offered.
