Job description

Location: Colchester, Essex
Salary: Scale 5 (Points 9-12)
Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time Only (34 hours 35 minutes per week)
Hours: 8.10am-3.30pm OR 8.20am-3.40pm (includes a 20-minute paid break and 50-minute unpaid lunch)

Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs? We are recruiting on behalf of a client for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a specialist school in Colchester.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging learning activities.
  • Cover classes in the teacher’s absence, delivering pre-prepared lesson plans.
  • Provide targeted support to students, promoting their academic and personal development.
  • Assist with assessing, recording, and reporting on student progress.
  • Encourage independence and engagement in learning activities.

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Have experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Be confident in delivering pre-prepared lessons and supporting student learning.
  • Have strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students.
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and committed to making a difference in students' lives.
  • Be willing to support students with personal care and physical needs, when required.
