Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Salary: Scale 5 (Points 9-12)
Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time Only
Hours: Full-time

Are you passionate about supporting children with autism and special educational needs? We are recruiting on behalf of a client for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a specialist autism school in Chelmsford.

About the Role:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students with autism, particularly those with complex learning needs and early language development.
  • Assist in delivering tailored learning activities, ensuring student engagement and progress.
  • Cover classes and small groups, preparing and delivering lesson content as required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to enhance student learning.
  • Promote student independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
About You:

To be successful in this role, you should:
Have experience working with autistic children and SEN learners.
Be confident in leading small group sessions and supporting individual student needs.
Have strong communication and classroom management skills.
Be adaptable, patient, and proactive in a dynamic school environment.
Be willing to support students with personal care and physical needs when required.
