Join a Supportive Primary School Team as a HLTA This September!

GSL Education is working in partnership with a well-regarded primary school in Maldon to recruit a confident and capable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a full-time role starting in September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys leading small groups, delivering targeted interventions, and occasionally stepping in for class cover. If you’re a qualified HLTA or an experienced teaching assistant ready for that next step, we’d love to hear from you!

Your Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver small group sessions and interventions, particularly in literacy and numeracy

Provide classroom support across KS1 and KS2 as needed

Supervise and lead classes during teacher absence (planned or occasional)

Support individual pupils with additional learning needs (SEN/EAL)

Assist with classroom preparation, resource organisation, and marking

Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and leadership to ensure positive pupil progress

Uphold the school’s safeguarding and behaviour expectations consistently

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

HLTA qualification or relevant Level 4+ TA qualification (or significant school-based experience)

Experience supporting teaching and learning across the primary phase

Confidence managing groups and whole-class cover when required

Strong communication skills and a positive, flexible attitude

An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply through GSL)

A genuine passion for supporting children’s education and wellbeing
