Job summary

Teaching Personnel and a friendly primary school in Cambridge are seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a part-time role starting September 2026.

You will deliver targeted interventions, lead lessons in the absence of the class teacher, and support pupils across the curriculum to maximise progress. This position offers a supportive team, access to free CPD, and ongoing guidance from an Education Consultant through Teaching Personnel.

Qualifications

  • HLTA qualification or substantial classroom experience required.
  • Experience delivering lessons and interventions across primary year groups preferred.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and inclusive practice essential.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted interventions and small group support to raise attainment.
  • Lead planned activities and whole-class lessons when the class teacher is absent.
  • Support pupils across the curriculum and monitor progress with feedback to staff.
  • Assist with lesson preparation, resources, and classroom organisation.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe learning environment.

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant or qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking for your next opportunity?

Teaching Personnel is proud to be working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Cambridge to recruit a dedicated HLTA for a part-time position starting in September 2026. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, delivering targeted interventions, and leading lessons when required to help maximise pupil progress and achievement.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver targeted interventions and small group support sessions to raise attainment
  • Lead planned learning activities and whole-class lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Support pupils across the curriculum, helping them to achieve their academic and personal goals
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and resource creation
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to support pupil success
About You

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Holds a HLTA qualification or has substantial classroom experience
  • Has experience supporting learning within a primary school setting
  • Is confident delivering lessons and interventions across different year groups
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusion
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and passionate about supporting children's development
  • Can work effectively as part of a wider school team
