Please feel free to get in touch to organise a visit to our department, or for any questions you may have., We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our Medicines Management clinical team. Our team covers sites across Secure and Acute services. Though based at Hollins Park, flexibility in working rotas and travel will be required to support the needs of the service.
You will have the opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting patient care and assisting with medicines reconciliations and timely discharge processes for patients with complex mental illnesses and learning disabilities. There will be an opportunity to assist nursing staff with medicines management, completing audits and providing training and education. You will work autonomously and within a thriving and well-developed team to promote and provide a safe, efficient and cost-effective pharmaceutical service.
To maintain Technicians' competencies and to continue to develop your skills, there is a requirement to provide some support to our dispensary services on a rota basis., We offer specialist inpatient and community services that support physical and mental health and specialist inpatient mental health, learning disability, addiction and brain injury services. Mersey Care is one of only three trusts in the UK that offer high secure mental health facilities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
+ Performing medicines reconciliation, including assessing patient own drugs.
+ Developing and co-ordinating medication supply systems to meet the needs of patients.
+ Participating in the safe systems for the supply of medication to wards and community-based teams.
+ Performing final accuracy checking of dispensed prescriptions.
+ Supporting the supply of discharge and short-term leave medication at ward level.
+ Providing information to service users and their carers (where appropriate) about their medications in conjunction with the pharmacists.
+ Delivering training to a variety of Health Care Professionals.
+ Completing audits and reports for example Controlled drug audits, safe and secure storage of medication audits etc.
+ Education and training of junior technical and ward staff.
A current and valid BTEC accuracy checking qualification is required. The post-holder will be obliged to participate in our weekend and bank holiday rotas.
