Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a dedicated psychology support role within our newly transformed eating disorders service. You will join a multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate assessments and deliver group and individual interventions under supervision.

The post holder will monitor treatment outcomes, contribute to audits, and help develop new psychological pathways. Collaboration with clinicians across the MDT and participation in CPD opportunities are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:2 Honours undergraduate degree in Psychology.
• Evidence of adhering to a relevant code of ethics; computer literate with web-based and database-management skills.
• Well-developed communication skills (oral and written) with clients and professionals within and outside the NHS.
• Ability to develop therapeutic relationships and offer psycho-education/psychotherapy as appropriate.
• Ability to manage own clinical practice, caseload and time with supervision.
• Experience of audit evaluation and research in a service setting.
• Autonomy in working within supervision.
• Understanding of confidentiality in a mental health context.
• Experience of working in mental health settings.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our newly transformed eating disorders service. The post holder will join a multi-disciplinary team working to provide good quality and compassionate care to people with eating disorders and their carers. The role will support various pathways within the service under the supervision of qualified Psychologists and Psychological Therapists., The post holder will support with assessments and the delivery of group and individual interventions. They will have a key role in monitoring and auditing treatment outcomes and assisting with the development of new psychological treatment pathways within the service. They will work as a valued member of the MDT, working alongside colleagues from a wide range of disciplines. The post holder will have access to supervision from a qualified Psychologist and line management from a senior colleague. They will be offered training and CPD opportunities within the mental health trust.

• Minimum 2:2 Honours undergraduate degree in Psychology
• Evidence of adhering to a relevant code of ethics, Computer literate including web-based and database-management skills
• Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
• Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients and learn to offer psycho-education/psychotherapy to suitable clients in a manner consistent with the service
• Ability to manage own clinical practice, caseload and time, with supervision
• Ability to participate and undertake audit evaluation and research (Completed clinical audits within a service).
• Ability to function in a largely autonomous fashion, subject to suitable supervision
• Appropriate understanding of confidentiality in a mental health context, Experience of working with people within mental health needs
• Ability to meet agreed / specified service targets working in a manner consistent with the service needs
• Experience of working and liaising with other professional groups
• Experience of working as a member of a multidisciplinary team or within a team environment
• Evidence of working in a service where agreed targets are in place, demonstrating clinical outcomes
