Main Activities/Responsibilities

This role will be filled by someone who is highly organised, demonstrates sound judgment, and is capable of delivering at pace and adapting to change. You will handle sensitive issues discreetly and effectively, and you will be comfortable 'managing up' by providing instructions and direction to the Chief of Staff and Directors when necessary. You should be enthusiastic, confident, work well with others, and eager to join the team!

You will be responsible for supporting Directors to ensure they are effective and highly regarded leaders. Your role includes prioritising their time according to business needs and Directorate priorities. As part of the Director's Office, you will support the visibility of the Directors across staff in all national locations, different teams within the Directorate, across the MoJ, and across government.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Director's schedule effectively to allow focus on priorities, demonstrating good judgment, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • Proactively analyse, prioritise, and triage the Director's inboxes, delegate tasks as appropriate, and coordinate work to ensure deadlines are met. Manage background briefings and incoming commissions from Data and Analysis teams into the DG or Ministerial Private Offices.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact, engaging effectively with senior external and internal stakeholders. Develop and maintain strong relationships to ensure high-quality service and understanding of priorities across the senior management team.
  • Process HR transactions promptly and sensitively, including pay, performance, development, and personal HR matters, in accordance with procedures.
  • Manage finance transactions transparently, review budgets, and ensure proper sign-off of spending.
