Job summary

Yeovil College is seeking an Institutional Outreach Officer to inspire young people and raise aspirations for Higher Education through regional partnerships and engaging activities. You will plan, coordinate and deliver outreach, including events, university visits and student ambassador opportunities.

You will develop resources, support learners and monitor impact while building strong relationships with schools and organisations across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

Qualifications

• A passion for raising aspirations and helping young people see the opportunities Higher Education can offer.
• Confident communication skills to engage with students, schools, colleges, universities and a wide range of partners.
• Strong organisation and initiative to coordinate activities, visits, resources and events from planning through to delivery.
• Knowledge of Higher Education including UCAS, student finance, entry requirements and progression routes, or the enthusiasm to develop this knowledge.
• A relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience, with a good standard of written and verbal communication.
• A collaborative approach and commitment to widening access, supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds to progress into Higher Education.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and deliver engaging outreach activities that encourage more young people to progress into Higher Education.
• Organise events, university visits and student ambassador opportunities and develop resources.
• Support learners and monitor the impact of activities from start to finish.
• Build strong relationships with schools and partner organisations across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
• Share knowledge about options from university applications and student finance to support available in Higher Education.
