Job description
Overview

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated High Voltage Technician to join a specialist electrical distribution team working across a major maritime site in Portsmouth. This is a varied and technically rewarding role, maintaining and delivering high and low voltage (HV/LV) electrical services across a large operational network.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining reliable electrical supplies (50Hz and 60Hz) to key sites and support project delivery work within a unique, high-security environment that blends historic infrastructure with modern technology.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on HV and LV systems.
  • Support the electrical distribution and project delivery teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical safety standards and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and contractors to maintain site reliability.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to operational excellence.
About You / Qualifications

You’re a qualified and safety-conscious electrician with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset. You’ll be confident working on complex electrical systems, adaptable to changing demands, and motivated to uphold high technical standards.

Essential qualifications and experience
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or City & Guilds qualification.
  • BS7671 18th Edition (desirable).
  • BS2391 Test & Inspection (desirable).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and smartphone-based applications.
