National Grid plc is seeking a mechanically biased engineer to maintain and service high–voltage substations. Based near Cardiff, you will work outdoors, diagnose faults, repair components and install refurbished gear, with training at the Eakring centre and occasional away stays.
The role involves 37 hours weekly, day shifts, and opportunities for paid overtime and a company vehicle from home to work.
Competenze
- Recognised apprenticeship in Engineering/Mechanical with relevant industrial fitting experience.
- Strong mechanical/electrical maintenance experience.
- Experience stripping, rebuilding and repairing plant and equipment.
- Confidence using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment and torque tools.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel and work at height.
Mansioni
- Maintain, repair and overhaul electrical substation equipment.
- Strip, inspect and rebuild mechanical components.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs.
- Install new or refurbished equipment.
- Support planned maintenance and emergency breakdown response.
- Perform routine inspections and condition monitoring.
