Capgemini Engineering is looking for a dynamic, team-focused High Performance Materials Engineer with a focus on composite materials to join the existing team. Your role will be to support operations of both industry-leading and emergent companies in the aerospace sector.

Hybrid working: The work location will vary according to your role, needs, and business requirements; it will be a blend of company offices, client sites, and your home, noting that you cannot work at home 100% of the time.

If selected, you will undergo pre-employment checks including employment history, criminal record checks, and immigration status verification.

Your Role

Working directly on-site or remotely with the customer, you will play a key role in delivering Capgemini Engineering and customer projects. You will utilize engineering principles and knowledge to support various topics, with emphasis on carbon fibre primary structures, aerospace metallic materials, and manufacturing principles.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Developing and providing materials design guidance, focusing on:
  • Composite materials / Reinforced plastics
  • Supporting material selection and certification activities
  • Defining, planning, and executing test campaigns
  • Creating and maintaining material compatibility and surface protection practices and manuals
  • Developing Material Specifications to ensure standards are met
  • Managing documentation for material qualification
  • Generating Manufacturing Engineering process instructions
  • Qualifications
    • Degree or equivalent in Materials Science, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering with specialization in composites
    Experience
    • Experience in aerospace engineering with focus on composite materials desirable
    • Experience in documentation for material qualification and certification
    • Experience in developing manufacturing and material specifications
    Relevant Skills
    • Strong knowledge of materials science, composites, material compatibility, surface protection, and qualification processes
    • Excellent project management and stakeholder coordination skills
    • Strong communication and documentation skills
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs
