Job description
Overview

We are seeking a High Intensity Modality Lead to support and manage the delivery and development of additional modalities within NHS Talking Therapies Southampton. This is a part-time role of 30 hours based in Southampton, with flexible hours across the service opening times.

Responsibilities
  • Act as clinical lead within an area of expertise and provide expert advice to psychological therapists and other professionals.
  • Provide non-CBT high intensity modalities that form part of the NHS Talking Therapies programme as recommended by NICE for clients with complex anxiety and depression and other mild to moderate mental health problems.
  • Supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other high intensity therapists and trainees; support other clinical members of the team who provide psychologically based care and treatment.
  • Oversee clinical quality and outcomes for the high intensity team, focusing on the delivery and quality of non-CBT HI modalities including evidence-based NICE-approved treatments: Couples Therapy for Depression (CTfD), Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Person Centred Experiential – Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
  • Work with locality leads and the Senior Service Lead to ensure national guidelines are adhered to in line with the NHS Talking Therapies programme; ensure targets are achieved and appropriate clinical governance arrangements are in place.
  • Work with the Locality Lead and S3 Specialist to oversee and monitor waiting lists for the additional modalities to ensure timely access to treatment and that KPIs are achieved.
  • Provide specialist psychological therapy to patients from the NHS Talking Therapies service in an expert area of practice, including assessment and therapy within one or more models specified by the NHS TT manual, in line with the Roth & Pilling competency framework (2007).
  • Supervise and support the psychological therapy provided by other high intensity therapists and provide consultation to non-NHS Talking Therapies colleagues as appropriate.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience in delivering high intensity, non-CBT modalities within NHS Talking Therapies; knowledge of NICE guidelines and appropriate clinical governance.
  • Ability to supervise and develop junior staff and trainees; ability to provide consultation to colleagues as appropriate.
  • Participation in safeguarding and DBS checks as required; Enhanced DBS check paid by the Trust. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
  • Applicants must not require Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK for this position.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and compliance with NHS employment requirements.
