Job description
Overview

A vacancy at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust for enthusiastic, qualified NHS Talking Therapies (NHS TT) compliant cognitive behavioural therapists or qualified psychotherapeutic counsellors with an NHS TT compliant qualification (PCE-CFD, DIT, IPT, Couples Therapy for Depression). The post is based in SE Essex and involves working within a busy NHS TT service alongside Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, and primary care counsellors/therapists who provide a range of NICE approved interventions for depression and anxiety disorders. The role is demanding but well supported.

The successful applicants will be accredited with a relevant professional body, have completed an approved NHS TT compliant training, and be skilled in assessment and treatment provision of Step 3 interventions for clients with depression and anxiety. Applicants working towards full accreditation can be considered with a requirement to complete accreditation within 12 months if successful. The service works with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and is committed to equal opportunities.

Therapy For You is an NHS TT primary care therapy service based in SE and NE Essex, delivering self-help psycho-educational courses, therapy groups, online/digital therapies and individual therapies including CBT, DIT, IPT and EMDR to adults with mild, moderate and severe anxiety and depression. The team works from own premises, GP surgeries and community settings.

The service provides out-of-hours cover, with some evenings or Saturdays (typical hours 6-9pm or 9am-1pm). Therapists predominantly use Cognitive and/or Behavioural Therapy as their main or a primary therapeutic model and should have demonstrable experience in mental health services.

Key responsibilities
  • CLINICAL: Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service; assess clients for suitability for psychological therapies; decide on suitability of new referrals and refer unsuitable clients to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary; formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients; adhere to an activity contract relating to client contacts and weekly clinical sessions to minimise waiting times; complete data collection requirements and maintain accurate records in line with service protocols; attend clinical/managerial supervision regularly as agreed with the Manager.
Requirements
  • Accredited with a relevant professional body and completed an approved NHS TT compliant training; skilled in assessment and treatment provision of Step 3 interventions for depression and anxiety; highly motivated with ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Applicants working towards full accreditation can be considered with a commitment to complete accreditation within 12 months.
  • Experience of working in mental health services and commitment to equal opportunities; ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and utilise interpreters when required.
