Job summary

Venatu Consulting Ltd. is recruiting for an HGV Workshop Supervisor in Widnes to lead a team of technicians in a permanent, full-time role. The position features a 4-day week (Mon-Thu), 6:00am–4:30pm hours, and no weekend work, with overtime opportunities.

You will supervise workshop operations, allocate workloads, and ensure repairs meet timeframes and quality standards. The successful candidate will have prior HGV supervisory experience, a Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance &

Qualifications

  • Previous HGV workshop supervisory or team leader experience
  • Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical maintenance and repair
  • Ability to lead, motivate and support a team
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Focus on quality, safety and getting the job done right
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and supporting a team of HGV mechanics/technicians
  • Planning and allocating daily workload across the workshop
  • Delegating jobs to technicians based on skills, experience and workload
  • Monitoring job progress and ensuring repairs are completed within timescales
  • Carrying out quality control checks and ensuring work meets standards
  • Providing technical support and guidance to technicians
  • Supporting the training and development of apprentices and less experienced technicians
  • Identifying training and development needs within the team
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health & safety procedures
  • Ensuring workshop housekeeping and safety standards are maintained
  • Completing and checking relevant paperwork and maintenance records
  • Liaising with management regarding workload and issues
  • Helping diagnose and resolve more complex mechanical faults
  • Ensuring procedures and manufacturer guidelines are followed
  • Supporting MOT preparation and compliance
  • Managing workshop priorities and urgent repairs

Are you an experienced HGV Technician/Mechanic with previous supervisory experience looking for a better work-life balance?

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Workshop Supervisor to join the busy workshop in Widnes on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys leading a team, maintaining high standards and supporting the development of other technicians — while enjoying a 4-day working week with no weekends.

The Role

As an HGV Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the workshop and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and supporting a team of HGV mechanics/technicians
  • Planning and allocating daily workload across the workshop
  • Delegating jobs to technicians based on skills, experience and workload
  • Monitoring job progress and ensuring repairs are completed within agreed timescales
  • Carrying out quality control checks and ensuring work meets company and industry standards
  • Providing technical support and guidance to technicians when required
  • Supporting the training and development of apprentices and less experienced technicians
  • Identifying training and development needs within the team
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health & safety procedures
  • Ensuring workshop housekeeping and safety standards are maintained
  • Completing and checking relevant paperwork, job cards and maintenance records
  • Liaising with the workshop management team regarding workload, repairs and any issues
  • Helping to diagnose and resolve more complex mechanical faults
  • Ensuring company procedures and manufacturer guidelines are followed
  • Supporting MOT preparation and compliance where required
  • Managing workshop priorities and reacting effectively to urgent or unexpected repairs
About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Previous HGV workshop supervisory or team leader experience
  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical maintenance and repair
  • The ability to confidently lead, motivate and support a team
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A strong focus on quality, safety and getting the job done right
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure
  • A proactive approach and a genuine interest in developing others
