MB555: HGV Vehicle Technician

Location: Ruislip

Salary: £39,000 + £5,000 shift allowance

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week

Overview:

First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic International Defence business who are looking to recruit multiple HGV Vehicle Mechanics on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Ruislip depot.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Service, maintain and repair vehicles components and accessories, in line with company, client and/or manufacturer's instructions, including removal and refitting in a safe, proper and economical manner using equipment provided.
  2. Diagnose faults and test vehicles utilising equipment available and using recognised test procedures and techniques. Including road testing where deemed necessary.
  3. Work in an efficient and productive manner, achieving the targets set out and agreed with Workshop Supervisors or Manager.
  4. Operate a 'Fix First Time' way of working ensuring quality of work is at the utmost standard and meets/exceeds any inspection carried out against it.
  5. Drive in a manner within the parameters of the law.
  6. Follow operator's license process and procedure to safeguard the company's license.
  7. Observe, recognise and report on defects and/or symptoms of impending failure.
  8. Identification of recharge costs advising the Workshop Supervisor and correct completion of paperwork.
  9. Order from the parts department all necessary replacement parts, ensuring that no parts are fitted to vehicles other than those required to complete the work.
  10. Interpret technical service information and data from manuals, bulletins and or computer files and data. Implement by applying correct techniques.
  11. Ensure the correct completion of all job-related documentation (job cards, parts orders, logbooks etc.) including job write-ups.
  12. Report to Workshop Supervisor & Workshop Manager any specialist tooling requirements.
  13. Recognise and value the importance of diversity of thought and each person's unique contribution to the team and Group, regardless of the individual's background. Treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
  14. Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed and adhered to in accordance with Company requirements and regulations in force.
  15. Ensure all processes and documentation meet and maintain ISO standards.
  16. Maintain and co-ordinate quality procedure updates and processes in-line with the Group Quality manual.
  17. Ensure at all times that equipment and tools are kept in a clean, safe condition and to report any shortages or damaged/faulty equipment to the Workshop Supervisor.
  18. Use adequate protection for vehicles against damage or soiling by use of appropriate covers.
  19. Keep working area in a clean and safe condition, dispose of displaced material, fluids, packaging etc. into receptacles provided.
  20. Keep abreast of improvements and techniques and to ensure all aspects of work meet departmental quality standards.
  21. Take a pro-active role in the continuous improvement process applied to vehicle and operational equipment inspection, servicing and repair processes and associated documentation.
  22. Use talent and ability to encourage achievement and continuous improvement.
  23. Demonstrate safety, integrity and commitment at all times.
  24. Maintain excellent levels of communication throughout the team and the wider business.
  25. Protect the information assets of the Company and always comply with the Company's Information Assurance policies and procedures.
  26. Work within established Company policies and procedures.
  27. Promote company values and standards.

Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Full UK Class C1 driving licence.
  2. Experience in servicing and repairing HGVs/LGVs.
  3. Knowledge of HGV/LGV technical specifications and maintenance requirements.
  4. Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements.
  5. High degree of attention to detail.
  6. An enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills.
  7. Ability to work well under pressure.
  8. Ability to actively seek solutions to problems.
  9. Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks.
