Job Title: HGV Vehicle Mechanic - Examiner

The role
As an HGV Vehicle Mechanic - Examiner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a great opportunity for an experienced HGV Vehicle Mechanic to be part of a small and integral close-knit team. You’ll be undertaking the servicing, repair, maintenance and overhaul of Military vehicles and electrical equipment, including diagnostic and inspection duties. You’ll also be carrying out equipment examination to meet production requirements.

Day to day, you’ll be carrying out work to the required standard and specification as detailed in accordance with customer requirements, current regulations, local instructions, process plans and other technical publications. You’ll also ensure stores and equipment issued to job are used for their correct purpose, reporting into a Working Supervisor.

• Diagnose, repair, inspect, and assess vehicles and associated mechanical or electrical equipment in line with skills and competency.
• Perform diagnostic duties on equipment and conduct road testing where required.
• Ensure all transactions are performed in accordance with current processes and that work is completed and time taken to complete is submitted daily.
• Complete equipment documentation and test certificates or reports when required and to required standards.
• Ensure material and equipment issued to each job are used for their correct purpose and any unused new, faulty parts are returned to the Working Supervisor.

This position involves manual work, which could include lifting, bending, using tools, or standing for extended periods of time.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Kendrew Barracks. No mandatory overtime, night shift, or weekend working. Working 8 hours Monday – Thursday and 5 hours on Friday.

Essential experience of the HGV Vehicle Mechanic - Examiner:

• Previous experience within a similar role.
• HGV experience.
• Holds a valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications for the HGV Vehicle Mechanic - Examiner:

• Completed relevant technical or vocational qualification equivalent to NQF Level 3 (Advanced apprenticeship, level 3 NVQ) in Heavy Vehicles.
• Qualification (NVQ/SVQ) in motor mechanics (Heavy Vehicles) or EAL Level 3 NVQ/SVQ Extended.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
