HGV Driver Position at Timber Haulage

We are seeking an HGV driver to join our Timber haulage team, transporting sawn trees from the forest to the sawmill. The position is available at our Invergordon, Inverness, or Corpach depots. Shift patterns include Monday – Friday, Tuesday – Saturday, or Sunday to Thursday.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Paid weekly with competitive rates: Basic £13.96/hr, Overtime £16.24/hr (after 8 hours), Overnight subsistence £29.01/night, Loading allowance £3.11/load
• Provision of an allocated truck and full PPE

Main Responsibilities:

• Deliver goods professionally and courteously
• Plan the most efficient truck-friendly routes
• Conduct daily vehicle safety checks
• Comply with tachograph and working time regulations
• Accurately capture all PODs

Working independently and as part of a team, your duties will include:

• Driving HGV1 and other company vehicles as per license entitlement
• Driving HGV1 with attachment trailers such as flatbeds, curtain siders, drop-sided trailers, low loaders, tanker trailers, forestry pin trailers
• Maintaining and updating driving qualifications to meet company and legal standards
• Participating in training sessions, which may occur on weekends and occasionally outside of regular hours
• Loading cargo carefully, including forestry products, round wood, fertiliser, concrete, steel, paper, and other materials
• Ensuring safe and secure loading and unloading of cargo throughout the journey
• Promptly reporting issues to management

Skills and Experience Required:

• HGV Class 1 Licence with 2-4 years of experience preferred
• Driver Qualification Card
• First Aid Certificate (training provided if not held)
• Hi-ab Certificate (training provided if not held)
