Join our team of expert Technicians at Volvo Truck and Bus, Wilstead, Bedford!

Salary up to £23 per hour dependent on skills set and experience!

£1,000 Joining bonus! (payable after 6 months continuous service)

Working a rotating shift pattern: 0600hrs to 1430hrs/1430hrs to 2300hrs

1 in 4 Saturdays @ overtime - time and a half (up to £34.50 per hour)

What you will do

Don’t worry if you don’t have experience with these alternative systems. When joining, you will be provided with a training path. Starting with an induction at the depot to foundational events, which will take you through all systems you will be using. You will also have access to online and in-person courses to develop your skills and support your role. You can train to become a Master Technician and receive IMI Level 4 qualification.

Responsibilities

• Ensure repairs are carried out according to the manufacturer’s procedures, safely and responsibly
• Ensure repairs are carried out in accordance with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo Special Tools where appropriate
• Assist in fault diagnosis
• Comply with warranty procedures during repairs and warranty material on completion of each repair
• Assist with Action Service Europe when required
• Work with the Parts Team to ensure correct replacement parts are fitted
• Road test vehicles when required (if you hold an HGV licence)
• Assist with roadside breakdowns
• Ensure company time recording procedures are followed, and job cards are completed accurately
• Ensure service sheets are completed as per Volvo instructions
• Report all vehicle defects to workshop controllers
• Keep workshop facilities, equipment, and tools clean, tidy, and well maintained
• Support the development of young trainees and apprentices

Who are you?

Skills/Qualifications

• City and Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification required
• Completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry or have equivalent experience, along with relevant experience in the commercial vehicle industry
• Basic knowledge of computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred
• Basic working knowledge of vehicle technology
