Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced HGV Technician Supervisor to join our busy depot in Witham. This is a hands-on, workshop-based role combining technical responsibilities with supervisory duties. The successful candidate will continue to work productively as an HGV Technician while also providing support, guidance, and quality assurance across the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out inspections, servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on a range of HGVs
  • Undertake road tests, final quality checks, and sign off completed work
  • Support and mentor other technicians, offering technical guidance where required
  • Ensure all work is completed to VOSA, manufacturer, and company standards
  • Maintain accurate records of work carried out in line with company systems
  • Promote a safe, efficient, and compliant workshop environment
  • Assist the Workshop Manager in coordinating daily workload and priorities
Requirements
  • Qualified HGV Technician (NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Proven background in HGV maintenance and repair, with supervisory or mentoring experience desirable
  • Full HGV licence essential (Class 1 preferred)
  • Strong diagnostic skills and ability to work on a variety of vehicle systems
  • Organised, reliable, and able to balance hands-on work with supervisory duties
Salary & Hours
  • Pay rate: £19-£23 per hour, depending on experience (negotiable for strong candidates)
  • Overtime at 1.5x rate after 42.5 hours per week
  • Basic working week: 42.5 hours
