Job summary

Ford and Slater is looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join our Newark DAF Trucks Depot on night shift (9:15pm–6:45am). You will service and maintain a wide range of trucks and vehicles, carry out fault diagnostics, MOT preparation and mechanical/electrical repairs, and test drive when safe to do so.

We offer a competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience), overtime at premium rates, extensive in-house and manufacturer training, driving licence training after qualifying period, 22

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician/Mechanic in HGV or related sector.
• Ideally hold a qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or be time served.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns.
• Good accuracy completing job cards and service records.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles.
• Fault Diagnostics.
• MOT Preparation.
• Mechanical and Electrical repairs.
• Ensure repairs follow manufacturer procedures and safety.
• Road test vehicle when required.

We currently have an exciting position as an HGV Technician in the fantastic team at our DAF Trucks Depot in Newark. As an HGV Technician on nightshift, we can offer you:

Who Are We Looking For

• You will have previous experience working as an HGV Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• Ideally have a qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Or a time served HGV Technician.
• Ability to participate in breakdowns.
• Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records.
• General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles. Fault Diagnostics. MOT Preparation. Mechanical and Electrical repairs. Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer's procedures and in a safe and responsible manner. Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions. Attend any technical or development training that is made available. Working Monday to Friday 9:15pm - 6:45am.
