Job summary

A logistics and transport company in Oldbury is seeking an experienced HGV Workshop Technician to maintain and repair their fleet of vehicles. The successful candidate will work in a time-sensitive environment, performing tasks such as vehicle servicing, fault diagnostics, and MOT preparations. Ideal candidates will have experience in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance and possess a Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. Qualifications

  • Knowledge of yellow goods repairs is a plus.
  • IRTEC license desirable but not essential.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and highly motivated HGV Workshop Technician / Mechanic to join our team of highly skilled technicians.

As the successful HGV Technician / Mechanic, you will report to the Vehicle Maintenance Unit Manager and be a key member of the team. Working in a time-critical distribution environment, your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Servicing and maintaining DPD’s fleet of approximately Mercedes Benz tractor units and trailers.
  2. Fault diagnostics on vehicles.
  3. MOT preparation for the vehicles.
  4. Weekly/monthly checks of HGV vehicles.
  5. Mechanical and electrical repairs on vehicles.
  6. Since November, over 60% of our HGV fleet uses Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO).
Qualifications
About You

As the successful candidate, you will have experience working within a similar Heavy Goods or Heavy Plant role, or have knowledge of yellow goods repairs. Ideally, you will be Level 3 trained in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or be a time-served technician.

You will have knowledge of working on Mercedes, DAF, Dennis, Volvo, and Renault vehicles.

You must demonstrate the core values of DPD's DNA – Passion, Respect, Honesty, Flexibility, Caring, and Accountability.

It would be advantageous if you held an IRTEC license; however, this is not essential as we can provide further accreditation for this.

A LGV Class 1 Driving Licence is desirable but not essential.
