Job summary

Greenhous DAF Willenhall is seeking skilled and experienced HGV Technicians to join our busy workshop team. Opportunities are available for both Day and Night Shift Technicians, making it an excellent chance to be part of an experienced team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as an HGV Technician.
• Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical systems and vehicle maintenance.

Job description

Greenhous DAF Willenhall is looking for skilled and experienced HGV Technicians to join our busy workshop team. We currently have opportunities available for both a Day Shift HGV Technician and a Night Shift HGV Technician.

Whether you prefer working during the day or are looking for a night shift opportunity, this is a great chance to join our experienced team and play an important role in keeping our customers' vehicles safely on the road.

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Other duties may be required of the post holder in addition to those listed above and below, to ensure that the requirements of the business are met at all times.

Night Shift:

Salary: Dependent on experience, will be discussed at interview stage.

Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 6.00 pm to 6.00 am, i.e. 46 hours per week, 30 minutes lunch break (unpaid)

Day Shift:

Salary: OTE £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience, working shift and qualifications, to be discussed at interview.

Hours: Alternating Shifts, Monday to Friday, 6.30 am to 3.30 pm, 9.30 am to 6.30 pm, 30 minutes lunch break (unpaid).

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Complete repairs efficiently and to the required manufacturer and company standards.
• Carry out routine maintenance and preventative servicing.
• Identify and report any additional work required on vehicles.
• Complete all relevant paperwork and job cards accurately.
• Work safely and ensure all work complies with health and safety requirements.
• Carry out MOT preparation and associated repair work where required.
• Work closely with colleagues to ensure vehicles are completed within agreed timescales.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
• Keep up to date with manufacturer developments, technical information and repair procedures.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the business.

Ideally, we are looking for:

• Previous experience working as an HGV Technician.
• Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical systems and vehicle maintenance.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Good understanding of vehicle servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment effectively.
• Relevant technical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent would be advantageous.
• A Class 1 or Class 2 HGV licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• A professional, reliable and proactive approach to work.
