Job summary

A leading commercial vehicle service provider in the UK is seeking an HGV technician to maintain and repair commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standards. The ideal candidate will possess a technical qualification and have excellent customer care skills. Health & Safety adherence is essential. This position requires strong teamwork ability and the capacity to work under pressure. The role offers a full-time schedule with alternating shifts.

Qualifications

  • Technical qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or NVQ qualified technician), or knowledge gained through hands-on workshop experience.
  • Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs to VOSA standard.
  • Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or customer premises.

Skills

Job description

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, alternating by week between 08:00-16:00, and 16:00-00:00, with a 30-minute paid break per shift.

The HGV technician’s role within TruckEast is to be responsible for maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard.

Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard
Diagnose and rectify all types of faults
Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises
Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
Liaise with parts department to attain parts
Ensure Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses
Provide cover on rota system for breakdown cover
