Job Title: Semi-skilled HGV Technician/Mechanic (Permanent)
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent semi-skilled HGV Technician/Mechanic to join our dynamic Trafford Account in Trafford, Manchester.
Location and Working Hours
This role will be carried out onsite at Tatton House, 11 Caldey Road, Roundthorn Industrial Estate, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M23 9LF. The standard weekly hours are 40 hours/week.
Role Overview
As an HGV Technician at our Trafford Account, you will ensure the maintenance and repair of waste trucks, contributing significantly to environmental and community well-being. You'll work in a modern workshop equipped with advanced facilities and tools. Your responsibilities will include diagnostics, dismantling and overhauling vehicle components, maintaining vehicles and plant equipment, completing documentation, ensuring safety protocols, performing road tests, and handling ad-hoc driving jobs. You will be part of a team maintaining a fleet of 150 vehicles critical for waste management, supporting a cleaner environment.
Responsibilities
- Utilise advanced diagnostic tools to identify faults and execute repairs.
- Dismantle and overhaul vehicle components to restore functionality.
- Maintain vehicles and equipment for efficient operation.
- Complete documentation using tablets and PDAs.
- Test equipment, monitor workshop performance, and ensure safety compliance.
- Perform road tests and roadside assistance.
- Handle ad-hoc driving tasks, such as vehicle MOT testing.

Candidate Requirements
- Desirable: City & Guilds, IRTEC, or NVQ certification in heavy vehicle maintenance.
- Essential: Category C HGV license, Driver CPC.
- Municipal vehicle experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and punctuality.
