Job summary

A commercial vehicle maintenance company in King's Lynn is looking for an HGV technician responsible for maintaining vehicles to MOT standards. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant technical qualification, possess a current driving license, and have excellent customer service skills, alongside the ability to work under pressure in a team. Experience with Scania products is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Technical qualification required, either City & Guilds level 3 or NVQ.
  • Flexible to take on various tasks with good numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle vehicles carefully.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults, attending roadside assistance when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.

Job description

Working hours: 40 hours - Monday to Friday, alternating by week between 8:00-16:00 and 16:00-00:00, with a 30-minute paid break per shift.

The HGV technician’s role within TruckEast is to be responsible for maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard.

Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard
Diagnose and rectify all types of faults
Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises
Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
Liaise with parts department to attain parts
Ensure Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses
Provide cover on rota system for breakdown cover

Candidate requirements

Technical qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or NVQ qualified technician), or knowledge gained through hands-on workshop experience
Current driving licence
Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks
Ability to work within guidelines and to deadlines
Ability to work as a team
Ability to work under pressure

Possess excellent accuracy and numeracy skills
