Overview
Working hours: 40 hours - Monday to Friday, alternating by week between 8:00-16:00 and 16:00-00:00, with a 30-minute paid break per shift. The HGV technician’s role within TruckEast is to be responsible for maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard.
Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard
- Diagnose and rectify all types of faults
- Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises
- Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
- Liaise with parts department to attain parts
- Ensure Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
- Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
- Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses
- Provide cover on rota system for breakdown cover
Candidate requirements
- Technical qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or NVQ qualified technician), or knowledge gained through hands-on workshop experience
- Current driving licence
- Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks
- Ability to work within guidelines and to deadlines
- Ability to work as a team

- Computer literate
- Excellent customer care skills
- Possess excellent accuracy and numeracy skills
- Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety requirements

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- ADR
- HGV licence
- Experience working with Scania products
- Fork Lift licence (FLT)
- Main dealer workshop experience
