Job summary

A vehicle maintenance company in the UK is seeking an HGV technician. The role includes maintaining commercial vehicles to MOT standard, diagnosing faults, and ensuring safety regulations. Candidates should have a valid driving licence, flexibility, and strong communication skills. Experience with Scania products and an HGV licence are desired.

Qualifications

  • Must adhere to Health and Safety requirements.
  • Experience working with Scania products is a plus.
  • Main dealer workshop experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers.
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of faults.
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully.
  • Liaise with the parts department for parts acquisition.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness while working.

Job description
Overview

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, alternating by week between 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00, with a 30-minute paid break per shift. The HGV technician's role within TruckEast is to be responsible for maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of faults
  • Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer's premises
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
  • Liaise with parts department to attain parts
  • Ensure Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
  • Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
  • Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses
  • Provide cover on rota system for breakdown cover
