Job summary

AB Volvo is offering a 6‑month training programme to transition from light vehicle maintenance to becoming an HGV Technician. Trainees will work in our Reading workshops, attending the dedicated in-house training facility with travel and accommodation paid during training weeks.

Upon completion, candidates receive the IMI Level 3 Technical Certificate in HGV Maintenance & Repair. A £1000 signing bonus is payable after six months of service, and training wages are paid at up to £17 per hour while

Qualifications

• Experience in light vehicle repair and maintenance.
• IT literate and able to use workshop software.
• Proven experience as light vehicle mechanic or LGV/plant technician.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections and MOT preparation.
• Perform diagnostic work and fault finding on engines, gearboxes, brakes and suspensions in trucks/buses.
• Learn to use Volvo in-house systems and complete paperwork (job cards, service sheets).
• Conform to Volvo Service Times and documentation standards.
