Job summary

North Somerset Environment Company Ltd. (NSEC) is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our commercial maintenance team at Weston-super-Mare workshop.

You will maintain and repair vehicles to DVSA and manufacturer standards, carry out inspections, respond to breakdowns, and provide technical support. The role requires apprenticeship training (City & Guilds HGV parts 1-3), a Class 2 licence is desirable, and the ability to work independently in a physically demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship training including City & Guilds HGV parts 1-3 or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently in a physically demanding role.
• Proven experience maintaining commercial vehicles to high standards.
• Excellent understanding of vehicle electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair vehicles, plant and equipment to DVSA and manufacturer standards.
• Carry out inspections, testing prep and complete service documentation.
• Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults and arrange recovery or off-site support.
• Promote safe working practices and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
• Provide technical support and mentor apprentices.
