Job summary

Hales Commercials Ltd in Romford is seeking a qualified HGV/LGV Technician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) to join our busy commercial vehicle repair operation. The role focuses on safe operation, routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to keep fleets on the road.

You will perform inspections, replace components, document work, and ensure adherence to health and safety standards. The position is full-time, Mon-Fri 45 hours with overtime, and offers a competitive salary and on-site benefits.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in HGV Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience
• Full HGV licence preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach
• Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to use your own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance tasks and diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on HGVs. Replace or repair faulty components, including engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
• Inspections: Conduct regular vehicle inspections to identify and fix potential safety issues, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Diagnostics: Utilise diagnostic tools to accurately identify vehicle issues, interpret diagnostic codes, and determine the best course of action for repairs.
• Record Keeping: Maintain detailed reports of all maintenance and repair work performed, documenting parts used and time spent on each job.
• Compliance: Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and keep up-to-date with changes in regulations and industry standards.
