Scania – HGV Technician Conversion Programme

(Suited for Light Vehicle Technicians, Plant Equipment Technicians, or Agricultural Equipment Technicians)

Location: Thurrock

Salary: Starting from £41,184

Working Hours: Discussed upon application.

Scania GB is offering a conversion programme for Technicians from the Light Vehicle, Plant, or Agricultural sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to convert their current skills and train to become a Scania HGV Technician.

The programme includes a mix of on-site mentoring and bespoke training at our National Training Academy. On-site, you'll be partnered with experienced Scania technicians and assigned a mentor to observe and shadow. At the National Training Academy, you'll benefit from bespoke Scania training delivered by our in-house experts.

We will provide all necessary tools and knowledge to succeed, with opportunities to gain an industry-recognised IRTEC qualification and a Scania Roadside Assistance qualification.

Meet Ricky and Joe, who joined us from the Light Vehicle sector:

“Making the switch from cars to HGV and stepping into Scania from a related industry has been incredibly rewarding and I enjoyed a warm welcome. I've relished the chance to upskill, receive specialised training, and seamlessly apply my transferable skills. Being embraced by this team feels like finding my professional home. With boundless opportunities for career progression ahead, I'm eager to dive in and see where this journey takes me.”

“This programme is allowing me to apply my transferable skills and experience to date whilst learning new ones and has transformed my career path. I’m excited for my future here. Since joining Scania, I have only had one regret, I didn’t start sooner!”

To join this programme, you will have:

  • The desire to utilise your current experience to convert to the Heavy Vehicle industry
  • An apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (NVQ Lv2 or similar may be considered)
  • A minimum of 3 years’ mechanical experience

If you feel this role and opportunity are right for you and wish to start a new chapter in 2025, please apply today.

Working for Scania is not just about the job. It’s about you too, and the company goes the extra mile by providing an industry-leading employment package. Benefits include a pension scheme, life insurance, financial incentive schemes, and discounts at major retail outlets including groceries.
