Overview

HGV Technician - Communities - Fleet

Bridgend County Borough Council works in collaboration with South Wales Police to maintain its Fleet of up to 350 vehicles across the County of Bridgend. Do you have the passion to be part of our dynamic team and support our Colleagues serving our communities?

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair a fleet of up to 350 vehicles across Bridgend County Borough Council in collaboration with South Wales Police.
  • Work in a busy workshop located in the Bridgend area with access to state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment; PPE and tools/equipment are provided on starting.
  • Operate in a workshop environment with familiarity of workshop tools and equipment.
  • Participate in continual training to support the council\'s Zero Carbon vision for 2027.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician with a minimum of NVQ Level 3.
  • A valid driving licence (Category C) is required.
  • Vetting check by South Wales Police is a requirement for this post.
  • Health Surveillance assessment through the Occupational Health Service is a requirement for this post.
  • Good understanding of a workshop environment and familiarity with workshop tools and equipment.
Working hours and benefits

Hours: 07:00 – 17:00. No weekend working unless paid as overtime when demands prevail. Benefits include 25 days annual leave, a 4-day "family friendly" working week every five weeks, bank holidays, and membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
