Job summary

Veolia is seeking a HGV Technician in Clacton-on-Sea to inspect, service and repair a diverse fleet, ensuring safety and compliance. You will perform routine maintenance, conduct safety inspections, and prepare vehicles for MOT testing while maintaining accurate paperwork.

The role offers a comprehensive benefits package, ongoing training, and a sign-on/retention incentive. A City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in HGV Engineering is required, with a driving licence and flexibility to cover some Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Essential: City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in HGV Engineering or equivalent.
• Desirable: IRTEC Licence and welding/fabrication skills.
• Desirable: HGV Driving Licence and vehicle experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily duties in a safe working manner and follow QHSE obligations.
• Attend toolbox talks and safety briefs; use PPE.
• Inspect and service vehicles, plant and equipment per OEM standards.
• Carry out vehicle safety inspections and prepare for MOT testing.
• Complete job cards and related paperwork in a timely manner.
• Work as part of a team or on own initiative.

Quarantine and report defective equipment.Report any unsafe acts, hazards, defective equipment to your supervisor and maintain a safe working environment at all timesKeep your work area free from hazardsInspect and service all vehicles, plant and equipment in line with OEM minimum standardsCarry out vehicle safety inspection in line with group fleet policyMaintain, prepare and present vehicles for annual MOT testing at specified DVSA approved ATFComplete all aspects of vehicle inspection documentation in line with group fleet compliance policyComplete technical training when requiredComplete job cards and associated paperwork in a timely manner.Be able to work as part of a team and on own initiativeWhat we're looking for;Essential:City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 in HGV Engineering or equivalent.Good communication skills.Ability to work as part of a team and individually.Ability to work under pressure and actively seek solutions to problems.Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks.Thorough Knowledge of current HGV MOT regulations and standards.Driving Licence.Desirable:IRTEC Licence.Waste/RCV vehicle experience.Electrical/Hydraulic/ Pneumatic experience.HGV Driving Licence (Vocational entitlement attracts an additional 50p per hour).Welding/fabrication skills.Forklift licence (Counterbalance).* If you are a skilled or semi-skilled Technician we’d still love to hear from you.
