Marshall Fleet Solutions (MFS) is currently recruiting an experienced HGV Technician for their Tamworth depot.

Purpose of the position

Marshall Fleet Solutions offers a comprehensive service to manage all fleet-related items. We collaborate with our customers to ensure they operate fully managed and legally compliant fleets of commercial vehicles & trailers. This role is based at our flagship depot in Tamworth, maintaining a large customer fleet of trailers.

The main responsibilities include servicing, maintaining, MOT preparation, and presentation to authorized testing facilities (ATF), fault diagnosis, and repairs for a fleet of approximately 100+ trailers.

The role reports directly to the operational controllers on site. Training will be provided to ensure safety, compliance, and proper maintenance of equipment, such as BPW systems.

Accountability and Responsibilities
  • Comply with all health & safety regulations, risk assessments, and safe working systems.
  • Be familiar with government documents such as the Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) inspection manual and the Guide to maintaining roadworthiness.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and meet their requests.
  • Advise customers on fleet product or service issues, including problem-solving.
  • Prioritize customer satisfaction.
  • Process customer transactions and maintain activity records.
  • Address maintenance issues within the agreed service plan.
  • Meet operational expectations for telephone and email communication.
  • Build and maintain trusted customer relationships.
  • Manage the documentation flow of all customer interactions.
  • Contribute to improving departmental guidelines and processes.
  • Ensure parts are available and replenished as needed.
  • Collaborate with immediate and wider teams within the business.
Tasks
  • Diagnose and repair all types of trailer faults.
  • Liaise with the parts department and suppliers to obtain correct parts.
  • Adhere to health & safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the work environment.
  • Complete all job cards and service sheets promptly, both paper and electronic.
  • Maintain current product knowledge; training will be provided.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, verbally and in writing.
