Qualifications

  • You should have completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry or have equivalent experience.
  • A basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred.
  • You are expected to have a basic working knowledge of vehicle technology.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure repairs follow manufacturer’s procedures, safely and responsibly.
  • Use Volvo Standard Times and Special Tools for repairs.
  • Assist in fault diagnosis.
  • Follow warranty procedures and complete warranty documentation.
  • Assist with roadside breakdowns as needed.
  • Road test vehicles if you hold an HGV license.

Shift Pattern Day Shift :

07.00-15.15 Mon -Thurs and 07-15.30 Friday
Back Shift: 15.00-23.30 Mon Thurs and 15.00-22.30 Friday

As an HGV technician, you will be joining our Service & Workshop team at our Volvo Truck and Bus Centre. You will ensure repairs are carried out according to Volvo's standards. Here at Volvo Trucks, we are at the forefront of Electromobility, working on systems including alternative fuels such as LNG, hybrid, and full electric vehicles.

Don’t worry if you don’t have experience with these systems. You will receive training, starting with an induction at the depot, foundational events, and various courses online and in-person to develop your skills. You can train to become a Master Technician and earn an IMI Level 4 qualification.

City and Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification is required. You should have completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry or have equivalent experience, along with relevant experience in the commercial vehicle industry.

A basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred, along with a general level of computer literacy.

We expect you to have a basic working knowledge of vehicle technology.

What you'll do:

As a Technician, you’ll ensure vehicle repairs meet high standards at our modern retail dealer. You should have technical and practical skills in HGV repair and maintenance, be able to communicate effectively, and be adaptable to new processes and skills. Participate in training and support team development.

  • Ensure repairs follow manufacturer’s procedures, safely and responsibly
  • Use Volvo Standard Times and Special Tools for repairs
  • Assist in fault diagnosis
  • Follow warranty procedures and complete warranty documentation
  • Assist with roadside breakdowns and Action Service Europe when required
  • Work with the Parts Team for correct replacements
  • Road test vehicles if you hold an HGV license
  • Record work accurately and complete service sheets
  • Report vehicle defects
  • Maintain workshop facilities and tools
  • Support training of trainees and apprentices
