Job description

HGV TECHNICIAN

Location: Romsey

Salary: £38,000 - £49,000 (Depending on Experience) + Performance Bonuses

Hours: Monday - Saturday, 08:00 am - 18:00 pm (working 5 days, hours negotiable)

Our client is seeking an experienced HGV Technician / Fleet Mechanic / HGV Mechanic / Fleet Engineer / Mechanic / Fleet Maintenance Technician / Commercial Vehicle Technician / Heavy Vehicle Technician / Diesel Mechanic for their workshop and site-based role in Romsey.

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Carrying out scheduled servicing, inspections, and preparation for testing for all fleet vehicles (HGV to LCV, Trailers, Horseboxes, and some plant vehicles).
  2. Performing regular safety inspections of HGVs in accordance with statutory requirements to maintain Goods Vehicle Operator's Licence and repairing defects as necessary.
  3. Inspecting vehicles to diagnose faults (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic) and repairing as needed.
  4. Completing all necessary records related to inspection, service, and repair of fleet items in accordance with statutory and administrative requirements.
  5. Liaising with colleagues, vehicle operatives, and managers to prioritize workload, organize replacement parts, and seek specialist support when required.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Level 3 City & Guilds or NVQ qualification as a technician. Level 2 qualification or relevant experience will also be considered.
  • HGV licence is advantageous.
  • Diagnostic experience is preferred.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
