Job summary

Babcock International is seeking an HGV Technician to join our team at Ruislip, near Uxbridge, Greater London. You will service, maintain, diagnose and repair specialist heavy goods vehicles, contributing to national security and public service within a leading defence, aerospace and engineering organisation.

The role is based onsite at Ruislip, 40 hours per week, with a base salary of £42,637 plus a shift allowance of £5,542.81, a discretionary £1,200 bonus, and the potential for overtime.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing and repairing HGV vehicles.
• Strong fault diagnosis and problem-solving capability.
• Knowledge of HGV maintenance requirements and technical specifications.
• Experience working to high safety and quality standards.
• Ability to work effectively within a workshop environment.

The role

As an HGV Technician, you'll play a critical role in ensuring specialist heavy goods vehicles remain safe, compliant, and operational. Working within a highly skilled team, you'll use your technical expertise to service, maintain, diagnose, and repair vehicles that support essential operations. Day-to-day you'll be required to:

• Diagnose faults and identifying effective repair solutions on HGV vehicles.
• Replace vehicle components and ordering parts when required.
• Complete maintenance documentation and service records accurately.
• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs to keep vehicles safe and operational.
• Work safely while maintaining high quality workshop and compliance standards.

The role is based onsite at Ruislip, totalling 40 hours per week. In addition to a base salary of £42,637, you'll receive a shift allowance of £5,542.81, a discretionary annual bonus of £1,200, and the opportunity to earn overtime, paid at 1.5x Monday to Saturday and 2x on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Essential experience of the HGV Technician:

• Experience servicing and repairing HGV vehicles.
• Strong fault diagnosis and problem-solving capability.
• Knowledge of HGV maintenance requirements and technical specifications.
• Experience working to high safety and quality standards.
• Ability to work effectively within a workshop environment.

Qualifications for the HGV Technician:

• Educated to GCSE level.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
