Job description

Marshall Fleet Solutions (MFS) is currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician for their Tamworth depot.

Purpose of the position

The Marshall Fleet Solutions offering is a truly one-stop shop to manage all fleet-related items. We work with our customers to ensure they operate a fully managed and legally compliant fleet of commercial vehicles & trailers. This opportunity is based at our flagship depot in Tamworth to maintain a large customer fleet of trailers.

Role overview

The role involves carrying out service, maintenance, MOT preparation, and presentation to authorized testing facilities (ATF) in the local area, fault diagnosis, and repairs to a fleet of approximately 100+ trailers.

Reporting directly to the operational controllers on site.

Training will be provided to ensure safety, compliance, and proper maintenance of equipment such as BPW components.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Comply with all H&S, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
  • Be fully conversant with government documents such as the Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) inspection manual and the Guide to maintaining roadworthiness.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and meet their requests.
  • Advise customers on product or service issues, providing problem-solving support.
  • Prioritize customer satisfaction.
  • Process customer transactions and record activities accurately.
  • Handle maintenance issues within the pre-agreed service plan.
  • Meet operational communication expectations via telephone and email.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with customers.
  • Manage documentation flow of all customer interactions.
  • Contribute to improving departmental guidelines and processes.
  • Ensure parts are available and replenished as necessary.
  • Collaborate with immediate and wider teams within the business.
Tasks
  • Diagnose and repair all types of trailer faults.
  • Liaise with parts departments and suppliers to obtain correct parts.
  • Adhere to health & safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the work environment.
  • Complete all job cards and service sheets promptly, both paper and electronic formats.
  • Maintain current product knowledge; training will be provided.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, verbally and in writing.
