Job summary

Lanes Group plc is a leading nationwide utility services provider operating a Yorkshire Water Tankering division that delivers specialist liquid waste management and emergency response services across Northern England and Scotland.

Based in Leeds, the role involves independently operating a vacuum tanker, collecting and disposing of non-hazardous liquids, and maintaining accurate electronic records. Full training is provided; 4 on 4 off days, £16.50 per hour, OT paid at time and a half.

Department

Yorkshire Water Tankering forms a key part of Lanes Group's wastewater and environmental services offering, providing specialist liquid waste management, tankering, jet-vac, and emergency response services across Northern England and Scotland. Operating from strategically located depots within the wider Lanes network, the division supports utility companies, industrial customers, local authorities, facilities management providers, and commercial businesses with both planned and reactive services.

The team utilises a fleet of high-performance vacuum tankers and jet vac units capable of handling hazardous and non-hazardous liquid waste, sludge, slurry, floodwater, and wastewater. Services range from routine tank emptying and interceptor cleaning through to large-scale emergency spill response and flood relief operations, delivered on a 24/7, 365-day basis.

Purpose of the role

To independently operate a vacuum tanker and carry out the safe and efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of non-hazardous liquid waste across Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region. The role involves supporting drainage and remediation projects, moving treated and untreated waste products, and delivering a high standard of service to customers. The post holder is responsible for maintaining accurate electronic records, conducting daily vehicle and jetting equipment inspections, reporting any safety concerns, and ensuring all work is completed in compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Location: Leeds

Hours:4 on 4 off shift pattern days.

Hourly Rate:£16.50 per hour.

Overtime: Paid at time and a half over standard hours

Key Responsibilities

• A phone will outline the navigation for the routes and jobs whilst working.

Key Requirements

Skills & Experience

• HGV class 2 driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points

Desirable

• Valid in date CPC
• Experience with working with tankers
