Job summary

NMS Recruit Ltd is seeking an experienced HGV Shunter to support a busy dealership. The role focuses on safe movement and organisation of HGVs and trailers across yard and workshop, coordinating with the service team to ensure vehicles are ready and spaces are used efficiently.

Key duties include vehicle collections/deliveries to MOT or test centres, maintaining clear access routes, and serving customers and colleagues professionally while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 licence.
• Experience driving and manoeuvring HGVs, including reversing in confined spaces.
• No more than six penalty points and no DR10 endorsements.
• Good knowledge of driving regulations and safe handling.

Responsibilities

• Safely shunt and manoeuvre HGVs and trailers around the yard and workshop bays.
• Position vehicles for servicing and inspections according to priorities.
• Organise parking and storage, keeping routes and walkways clear.
• Coordinate movements with Workshop Controller and Technicians.
• Carry out safety checks and report defects promptly.
• Record vehicle movements accurately.
• Ensure secure parking and proper key handling.
• Collect and return customer vehicles; arrange MOT/test transfers.
• Provide professional service to customers and colleagues.
• Keep yard tidy and maintain storage areas.
• Adhere to site speed limits and health and safety rules.
