Job summary

An environmental support services provider is looking for an HGV Driver/Operative in Carlisle. This role involves a combination of driving and hands-on tasks, such as operating tankers, performing high-pressure water jetting, and responding to spills. Candidates must possess an HGV Class 1/2 licence and have a proactive approach to work, flexible hours, and a willingness to travel. Overtime is available alongside a competitive salary, making this a dynamic and rewarding position.

Qualifications

  • HGV Class 1/2 licence (ADR beneficial but not essential).
  • Familiarity with RAMS documentation.
  • Understanding of Tacho use and vehicle checks.

Responsibilities

  • Operate tankers and other company vehicles.
  • Perform high-pressure water jetting and spill clean-up.
  • Conduct groundworks, remedial tasks and tank uplifts.
  • Install, service, and inspect tanks/interceptors.
  • Handle spill response and industrial cleaning activities.
  • Assist emergency response teams when required.

Looking for a hands‑on, high‑impact role where no two days are the same? We're recruiting an HGV Driver/Operative who's happy to take on a mix of driving and practical fieldwork. If you have experience with HGV Class 1/2 and/or groundworks or similar site‑based duties and enjoy problem‑solving you could be a great fit.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Operating tankers and other company vehicles (HGV/Class 2)
  • High‑pressure water jetting and spill clean‑up work
  • Groundworks, remedial tasks and tank uplifts
  • Installing, servicing and inspecting tanks/interceptors
  • Handling spill response and industrial cleaning activities
  • Assisting emergency response teams when required
  • Working towards relevant industry accreditations (including utility & rail standards)
What We Need From You
  • HGV Class 1/2 licence (ADR beneficial but not essential)
  • Familiarity with RAMS documentation
  • Understanding of Tacho use and vehicle checks (training available)
  • A flexible, proactive approach – overtime and call‑outs form part of the role
  • Experience in multi‑skilled or trade‑based work (plant operation advantageous)
  • Willingness to work away from home on occasion – travel and accommodation provided
