Job summary

The A1 Group in Wokingham is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join our commercial workshop team. You will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical defects on all vehicles, perform routine maintenance to DSVA standards and prepare vehicles for DVSA inspections.

We require a qualified HGV technician with City & Guilds/NVQ/BTEC, a minimum Class 2 license, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining safety and accuracy. Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm, with a competitive salary.

About The Role

The A1 Group is a family run business specialising in Scrap Metal, Car Spares, Loo Hire and Wet Waste and Staysure Tyres. We are looking for an experienced HGV Mechanic to become part of our dedicated team around the Wokingham area.

Role & Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical defects on all vehicles
• Routine Maintenance to DSVA standards
• Vehicle Inspections to DVSA
• Fault Finding Repairs & Servicing of Commercial Vehicles and Trailers
• MOT Preparation to DVSA Standards
• Completion of all relevant paperwork ensuring that all work undertaken is compliant to complete associated paperwork to ensure that all statistics and legal information are prouced and updated as necessary
• Prepare, present and accompany all fleet vehicles including trailers, other than exempt caterogies, for annual MOT inspections
• To maintain work areas in a safe and clean condition
• To develop and maintain a harmonious, effective working environment with team members within all areas

You will need to be able to work on your own initiative and well under pressure with a calm, methodical and safe approach.

We are seeking an experienced and reliable individual with a passion for trucks to join our commercial workshop team. Working on our own vehicles this is a fast-paced, dynamic working environment.

Requirements For Fleet Technician HGV

• HGV motor vehicle technician background
• Attained the appropriate City & Guilds, NVQ or BTEC qualifications
• Minimum of Class 2 License (C)
• Hydraulics experience is desirable
• Welding and forklift experience is desirable
