Job description

We are seeking HGV Mechanics/Fitters for full-time, permanent roles in Stockport.
About the role…
The main responsibility is the assembly of the Boxer Mechanised Infantry Vehicle, adhering to company procedures and Health and Safety guidelines. The role requires day shifts but may involve flexibility for other projects and shifts as needed.
Key duties include:
• Ensure personal and employee safety, complying with safety regulations.
• Final assembly of armoured vehicles and sub-assemblies.
• Problem-solving and fault-finding as needed.
• Interpreting drawings and operating instructions.
• Diagnosing mechanical issues, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and proposing solutions.
• Using diagnostic software for installation and repairs.
• Ordering parts and equipment as required.
• Collaborating with the line manager and other departments.
• Completing documentation in the MRP system (SAP).
• Undertaking training, possibly involving off-site travel to Germany.
• Transferring knowledge and providing on-the-job training.
• Completing tasks by business deadlines.
• Engaging with the company’s 5’s and housekeeping policies.
What we’re looking for…
Proven experience as an HGV/LGV mechanic with HGV Mechanic Certification (City & Guilds or NVQ) or equivalent. A Level 3 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance is advantageous.

Job Details:
Rate: £19.22 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week – Mon-Thurs 07:00-15:30, Fri 07:00-12:00
