HGV Mechanic

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Bromsgrove District and Redditch to assist with the appointment of a HGV Mechanic, on a 4-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £18.11 - £23.05 per hour

Responsibilities:

• Inspect, service, and repair a wide range of vehicles and equipment, including refuse trucks, tippers, mowers, tractors, and power tools.
• Carry out MOT tests (Classes 4, 5, and 7) and taxi inspections per council standards.
• Respond to breakdowns within the district and perform on-site repairs or arrange recovery.
• Work flexibly from either Redditch or Bromsgrove workshops as required.
• Provide mechanical training and supervision to staff on minor repairs and plant maintenance.
• Use IT systems for logging service data, tracking maintenance, and ordering supplies.

Qualifications:

• City and Guilds qualification or equivalent, relative to vehicle, LGV & HGV repair and maintenance.
• Full UK driving licence.
• LGV Category C.

Experience & Knowledge:

• Proven experience in vehicle repair and maintenance (light and LGVs).
• Competency in MIG/gas welding and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Ability to plan and prioritize workload efficiently.
• Sound knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance procedures.
